What are H.O.G.® Events?

There are almost as many different types of H.O.G.® events as there are reasons to join H.O.G.®.  They include Canadian National and Provincial Rallies, U.S. National and State Rallies, International Rallies just to name a few.  Some involve a lot of riding, others the chance to watch, learn and enjoy.  What they all have in common is the chance to meet new people and form lifelong friendships.

HARLEY OWNERS GROUP ®

OKANAGAN CHAPTER #9099

KELOWNA BRITISH COLUMBIA CANADA

What are H.O.G.® Chapters?

More than simply an organization, a local chapter is a place where people who share your passion for Harley-Davidson® motorcycles can come together and…..share their passion for Harley-Davidson® motorcycles.  Every chapter, sponsored by a local H-D® retailer, has its own way of doing that, by meeting together, riding together, playing together—whatever the members decide is the best way to ride and have fun.

What is H.O.G.®?

The Harley Owners Group® is much more than just a motorcycle organization.  It is over one million people around the world united by a common passion: making the Harley-Davidson® dream a way of life.

How do I join a H.O.G.® Chapter and what does it cost?

Your first step is to own a Harley Davidson® motorcycle, either new or pre-owned.  To join a local H.O.G.® Chapter, you must first be a National H.O.G.® member.  Either contact the H.O.G.® office at 1-800-668-4836 or head over to the H.O.G.® Canada website to get the ball rolling.  A full membership is $60 for one year, $115 for two years or $165 for three years (Canadian dollars).  Full details at the H.O.G.® Canada website.  Once you’ve done that, come on down to the sponsoring dealership and they can sign you up with the local chapter.  Chapter dues are $20 per year (Canadian dollars).

What is the role of the sponsoring dealership?

Each chapter must be sponsored by an authorized Harley-Davidson® dealership.  The decision to sponsor a chapter shall be undertaken solely at the dealers discretion.  The sponsoring dealership shall have absolute authority to require that the sponsoring chapter conducts its operations in accordance with the sponsoring dealerships standards.  The sponsoring dealership shall require the chapter to operate and conduct activities in accordance with the  Annual Charter for H.O.G.® Chapters and H.O.G.® Operating Policies.  The sponsoring dealership shall have authority over, and approval rights regarding the content of all chapter publications, shall have authority over any and all matters pertaining to chapter membership and may establish chapter dues, which shall be used solely to pay or defray the cost of chapter administration.

How are chapter dues or any fundraising money used?

Chapters are to be not-for-profit organizations.  The sponsoring dealer may, in the sponsoring dealers sole discretion, establish chapter dues to be utilized solely to pay or defray the cost of administration.  Chapter may conduct legitimate fundraising activities to assist in paying or defraying chapter operating expenses or to raise funds for charitable purposes.  All such fundraising activities shall be subject to approval by the sponsoring dealer.

Do any of the Chapter Officers receive any compensation for their respective positions?

No, the primary officers and any appointed officers may not be compensated for their services, but may be provided payment of any and all expenses incurred attending regular or special meetings of the Board of Directors.

How do I become an Officer?

A member in good standing in National H.O.G.® and the local chapter is eligible to become a Primary Officer.  The positions are generally held for one year unless designated by the sponsoring dealership.  The current officers shall hold their positions for 2 years.  Nominations for Primary Officers are taken from membership during the months of September and October.  Appointed Officers are chosen by the Primary Officers.  The sponsoring dealership is the final authority on any and all Officers representing the local Chapter as well as length of term.
